I miss Wrestling

Beyond Dominia: The Rumor Mill: I miss Wrestling

By Ufactor (Ufactor) on Tuesday, January 29, 2002 - 11:00 am:

does anyone know of any good televised wrestling that's non-WWF?

after watching religiously since Wrestlemainia III, I quit cold turkey. I watched WCW right up until they got bought out; I stopped watching WWF after the first time Mick Foley got distastefully fired about sixmonths before that. I'm tired of hearing Mcmahon(s) yammering nonsense and the stagnant one horse town that wrestling has been for the last year. is there any alternative out there for those who miss wrestling?

By meh on Tuesday, January 29, 2002 - 12:28 pm:

unless you have a regional independent federation with tv, no. VKM has all the power, and you'll see that soon when hall, nash, and hogan re-appear at no way out (all 3 have already signed. this is why vince has gone ahead with re-kindling the nwo angle.)
if you have a satellite dish, you might be able to pick up some lucha libre from mexico or some of the shoot promotions in japan.

ugh!! that's the other thing, I'm as old school as they get, but hogan, savage, duggan, lawlwer and a few others need to retire gracefully. flair is still cool b/c he can be the dirtiest player in the game without ever taking off his watch.

By WuRaider on Tuesday, January 29, 2002 - 04:09 pm:

You think hogan/savage/duggan bla bla need to retire but Flair is cool?! WHAT!? I am just waiting for the day Flair does that stupid strut of his in the ring then has a heart attack and flops over and dies. Maybe that will happen next week here in Vegas on Raw.......maybe

Mexican wrestling is the best. I am not a wrestling fan in general but living in Los Angeles has allowed me the priviledge of watching Mexican wrestling. Truly great.

well wwf is doing the nWo angle bring hall, nash, and hogan back to the federation so if it's those people you're missing tune in!

I miss the old NWA times. Nothing will bring them back. Is getting more stupid every year.

EC F'N W!

At least there's still Japan....

I suggest ordering tapes of All Japan from the early to mid 90s to take care of your wrestling appetite.

By Ufactor (Ufactor) on Thursday, January 31, 2002 - 10:21 am:

I wasn't refering to Flair's geriatric wrestling. I meant his buisiness-suit bad guy approach to being a comissioner, CEO, pres, etc.

to me, putting Hall and Nash in the WWF is like putting a sol ring and feldon's cane in a Type 2 deck. I wouldn't be suprised if they made them pose as Razor Ramon and Diesel. Jackasses!

yeah Mexican and Japanese federations are cool. unfortunatly, I live in the NYC area and can't get that stuff w/o a satalite hook up (unless I missed something)..

damn, I miss wrestling so much I'd bring back EP just to see him get a good piledriver!!!

Years ago, we used to watch ECW late at night while playing magic. It was when it was still pretty much underground (was it never NOT underground?) . . . all I remember is the Sandman taking repeated chairshots to the head while we laughed and played with decks like Red Gauntlet and G/W Ehrnam. Taz, Tommy Dreamer, Rob Van Dam, the Dudleys . . . we'd see something absolutely shocking each and every episode. Sabu! Now that guy was nuts . . .
Then there was the Chronos/Saturn finishing move, I think I just about died the first time I saw that. Sweeping a guy's legs out, and kicking him in the neck at the same time so he lands right on his head. They never paid those guys enough. :)

Wow, that was like 5 years ago. I haven't watched wrestling since. WWF makes me want to gag, they've basically gone straight for the Jerry Springer audience and never looked back. Now that I've got the internet, I never watch more than an hour of TV a week, and then it's usually Discovery Science or something. I'm such a nerd.

Bring Back the Grandmaster!!!

By meh on Sunday, February 03, 2002 - 09:29 am:

if you mean the godfather, then watch the wwf. he's been back for a couple weeks now, but hopefully his stale act will get updated.

By WuRaider on Monday, February 04, 2002 - 11:04 am:

i think he means Grandmaster Sexaaayyy.
I will be on RAW tonight. There here in Vegas tonight. nWo 4 life....its damn true!

By meh on Monday, February 04, 2002 - 12:15 pm:

who the hell would want him back? maybe if he actually wrestled on E.

By paladin on Monday, February 04, 2002 - 10:13 pm:

He was soooooo goooooood!!!!

cmon, dont you remember how the crowd got into "Too Cool" everytime they came out to get their asses kicked?

the fact of the matter is that he won very few matches, but was always a top 3 pop, so he should come back to the WWF, Scotty just isnt the same without Grandmaster, Albert is good, but he is no Grandmaster.

By WuRaider on Tuesday, February 05, 2002 - 04:00 pm:

RAW kicked ass here in Vegas last night. Many of you probably saw during main event Jericho get tackled by some idiot fan. What you DIDNT see was Jericho get up and pop the guy right in the eye. Blood was pouring down the guys face. Rock and Austin even helped beat the crap out of the a-hole. Security dragged him away like a sack of laundry. Great to see the nWo again.
PS- WHAT?
PPS- Grandmaster Sexay was funny. He was like new generation Doink.
PPPS- WHAT!

There was a houseshow here in vancouver, It was a great houseshow. There was a three way match between the Dudleys, the Hardy's and the Zoo Crew. After the match, Scotty's Music hit and a whole bunch of people started dancing in the ring, It just shows how pointless houseshows really are, titles never getted changed at houseshows, but the crowd and the actual wrestlers get into it a lot more, probably because there are no cameras on them, so they figure that they can take some stupid risks. Its a pity there is only like 2 houseshows a year here and a RAW or SMACKDOWN MAYBE twice every 3 years.
