You know, the ones with your own card pool? Maybe with the random commons left over from a box? Please post here, as I am trying to compile what methods people use to choose their cards.

I never did that, but I once heard about a big highlander draft.
The players did a normal booster draft, but instead of using normal boosters, they picked 15 cards from a big box containing 1 of every card ever made.
My wife and I make up our own "sealed decks". We randomize our cards then sort them into "boosters".
Usually we use the most recent block. She finds deck construction to be boring and playing a constructed deck to be repetitive and boring. Not that bad at pulling a good sealed deck out of a pile of cards though.
My friends and I did this. It worked well. We randomized the cards and slipped 15 cards into those clear cases. We each got three and played like a draft.
