I popped into the old chat room for a minute and someone asked this, so I thought I'd put it up here.
Yes you can, and the card is chosen on resolution, so you CAN choose a different card for the fork.
What if you forked said fork upon resolution?

you can do nothing during the resolution of a spell, except what the spell tells you to do.
