Ahhh, I've found a good enough excuse to make some time to knock a chunk off of my reading list (which is approximately one A.U. long): I've gotten my hands on the last book in Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy.

Is anybody else familiar with those books? If you haven't read them, I highly recommend them they are very good, though I'm surprised they haven't found there way into more controversy given the objective of the heros.

Anyway, if you are familiar with these books, I would love to hear comments on the first and second books, but if you tell me anything about the third book I will kill you. If there's one thing I hate, it's a ruined surprise in a book.

Another note: hopefully I'll be able to convince Goss to do stick his face back in here during Christmas break and do some rping. If he doesn't, I'll just have to carry on w/o him, which will be boring, but hey; I'm not waiting around.

Mmmm, as far as I can count, there are presently about six people who are posting. I don't know whether to be depressed or just happy that anybody is here at all. I think circulation picks up quite a bit during the summer when everone isn't so busy, but man, that's a long wait. I'm going to have to start thinking of some innovative strategies to get people to come here. (Innovative = I don't have to do that much actual work ;)

What's the controversial subject matter? Stuff like that always works. It's why I liked Black Sun Rising and its sequels, it involved saving the life of a demon/vampire in order to fight a greater evil guy.

It's a religious thing.

You should read the books and find out. ;)

Yeah, I know what you mean, about how empty this place seems to be in the winter. Hopefully in the summer we'll get some newbies who'll stick around and become regulars. :) Or better yet, but unlikely, maybe some people will return that left last year, like Ponack, Sky, Ped, or any of the others that joined in with Jerrick's story, the BMW, and the RBS. *sigh* And Stiles, Clockmaker and Kronin haven't continued the GBS for at least three or four weeks now. :( Rhisiart's leaving, and many of the others who've been here for 3+ years that had been posting still last year have left as well. I just hope more people join us or return to us next year. sigh

But no, I haven't read any of those books. I'm a little too busy right now to do much reading, working on stories for my characters here while also working on making a 3E D&D campaign to be started in January, among other things. It will likely be a few more months before I have the time to do much reading. shrug
