![]() Wizards of the Coast released the collectable card game Magic: the Gathering in 1993. Since then, the company has sold over 1 billion cards, and the popularity of the game became unrivaled by any other CCG. With this fast growth came the spawning of hundreds of Magic related web sites, some official, most not. Like most web pages, there is a wide variety of quality and information available. Yahoo lists well over 170+ Magic pages, and there are countless hundreds others that aren't listed. With all these web pages, how is one to know what is good and what isn't without visiting them all themselves?? Here's where Beyond Dominia's Magic Site of the Month comes into play... every month, we'll showcase a unique Magic web site. We'll review it, give it a rating, and highlight the good and bad points of the site. Enjoy!
This Month's MsotM is . . .
The Magic CompendiumThis month's MsotM is The Magic Compendium. The crux of this nicely done site is a database of all the Magic cards in existence. The Magic Compendium has a very fast search engine, where you can search by set, color, rarity, type, power/toughness, casting cost, or name. The results are displayed in a nice, easy to browse, table format. However, our favorite section of this site would have to be the card checklists. If you ever used to collect sports cards, or plain old collecting cards (what! cards that you can't play games with?? absurd!!), you might recall those handy checklists where you can check off what cards you have, and what cards you're missing from completing the set. Well, The Magic Compendium brings them to Magic, with neat, printable checklists of all the basic sets, expansions, and promos. Have fun!!
We are constantly searching for new, innovative Magic web sites. Do you know of one that deserves to be Magic Site of the Month? Tell us!!! Just use the handy form below, or e-mail i***i@o***w.edu with the following information : the site's URL, the site's name, who runs the site, and why you think the site is deserving of this award. Please note : do not nominate any official Magic site (WotC, ITIS, or MoxPerl). Everybody already knows of these sites, and they're all well-deserving for this award (If they really want this award, they can have it :) . What we're looking for is interesting, innovative sites. Not just a bunch of links, and "Hi world, I play Magic", but a page with real content and something unique to offer. If you think your site qualifies, please tell us!
