Hecabarbs

Hey everyone, I'd like to apologize for not writing in the last few months, but I've been really busy. Today I went to a Type 2 Tournament and instead of planning a deck, I looked through all my cards to improvise. It's probably been done, but I haven't seen it. I got kind of tired of all the burn, green/red, and permission decks, so this one's a bit different.

This deck is based around Manabarbs and Hecatomb. You lock down the opponent's land with Manabarbs, then spend all of your useless Swamps into Hecatomb. It's a really simple concept, and I did really well at today's tourney. I went 3-2, and on the last round I would have been in the finals, but he had 2 life left and pulled off a victory. It works best against burn decks and permission decks, although the permission did okay against it (I beat all those I played though, so don't worry).

Deck Priorities:
1.) Get out a few creatures- do some damage, and use the creature control wisely.
2.) Get out artifact mana. This may not seem very high priority, but you WILL thank yourself soon after.
3.) Get out Manabarbs. Do this soon- the quicker the better, but be smart about it. Against burn and permission decks this is the number one priority.
4.) Cast Hecatomb, and use this to throw the game into your hands. This card can be a gamebreaker late in the game.

I did not use a sideboard, but the deck still worked great. I recommend enchantment killers for Propaganda and Chill. I think I would have been in the finals, but I made a major mistake in the last 3 rounds of the last game. Good luck and I HIGHLY recommend this. I think it could have dominated the tournament scene with some minor adjustments, so maybe toy around with it. Have fun with this deck and make a good challenge for friends.
