Now that's putting the "Nasty" in Dynasty...and I like doing the Nasty In an effort to spread my favorite style of Magic play like a bad disease, I will now submit to you all the ultimate (well, in my opinion that is..) Dynasty Magic deck. Being a gamer for over 17 or so years (Geesh Grandpa, you're old!), I started playing AD&D in the "Glory Days" of the game - the early 1980's. Ah, the memories. 6 guys, pop, pizza and not a date in sight! Anyway, before I get all misty-eyed, I found that the coolest thing about the game was the Dragons. I mean, that was part of the title. Well, those days are gone now and the 6 guys that I used to play with still can't get dates...our wives won't let us. Nowadays I play Magic. Less prep time and because I'm of age, I can drink beer and not have to concentrate on the actions of my Halfling thief/mage. Well, enough of that. Onwards into the beach...um..breach. If you didn't read the article on Dynasty Magic in the Feb. issue, then you might be a little lost. Not a problem, the good folks here have back copies for just this reason. (a link to it can be found here) If you did read the article, I know that you have shucked off the chains of repressive, standard Magic, and are now in tune with thee way things "should be." Here is the deck that will cause everyone at the table to stand-up and take notice of (and also gang-up on) you. This deck is best played with at least three or four other players (the more, the merrier!). (Taa-taa-taa-dum-dee-dum-dum) Now, without further adieu, I give you... The Dragon Deck! or "My God! There is sooo much Upkeep! Are you INSANE?!" Don't be scared, children...be afraid!
Wow! That's 111 cards, give or take a couple. This deck is HUGE! Well, just trying to capture the size and impressiveness of Dragons. Now, before any of you write this deck off as a pipe-dream, it exists, and it plays very well in the Dynasty Magic environment. The spells are supposed to represent the spells/abilities of Dragons. They are also there to keep you, the player, in the game long enough for the Dragons to hit the table. The Dragons are the best of the best from the game. Also, look at the Dynasty rules, and you will see that there is no limit to the amount of Legends on the table. Use the Sol Grails for Upkeep (and boy, there is a lot of it). All-in-all, a nice deck that you can make and keep friends with. It sort of takes me back to those days in my friend's basement and the first (or even fourth) time I looked upon a Dragon...hey, pass me that slice of pizza.
