Scratch That...Reverse It (Editor's Note -- we found Grantfly's flow of thought to be quite confusing. However, we're past the deadline, and we don't have enough time for a major rewrite, but his deck is quite interesting, so we decided to just stick it in and let you decide for yourself) Hello, again. Glad to see you back so soon. I have a little gift for you. I don't care if you want it or not...here it is courtesy of the Tempest card that adds to blue's already formidable arsenal of various kinds of card manipulation. I call it Legerdemain. It makes up half of the combo for this month's last and grand finale on the deck drainer theme. The other half is a seemingly useless card from weatherlight. However, now that you can give it to your opponent, the Tolarian Serpent can play for a worthy cause. That is to run your opponents deck to zilch. This does not stop your card drawing each turn or require you to pump up your opponent's hand. It only requires the combo to be in play, and then all you need is defense. The ideal cards for this have not changed much since last month's article. Now, the main thing is creature stoppage which can be accomplished by Pacifism, Master Decoys, Propaganda, and, the Peacekeeper. The other thing is damage and nasty enchantment stoppage, which can use Counterspells, Dismiss, Vision Charm, Power Sink, Abeyance and Mystic Veil to keep your enemy form zapping your vital present to them. This makes the serpents big toughness a big advantage to you. You will have cards in your hand when you're waiting around for your opponent to run out of fuel, so why not gain some life for it with Gerrard's Blessing. And let's not forget the fun everyone can have by using Time Warps. Especially when they can be used to take an extra turn for yourself or to make your opponent zip 7 more cards off the top of their library. Since we're on a roll with that theme, lets give them another turn and draw 4 cards to boot with Meditate. So the final version looks like:
Now to mana -- Speed is necessary in a deck with the high casting cost of the Serpent, and Undiscovered Paradise can work wonders with the Gerrard's Wisdom. So, our land situation will look like:
