by Alex Wilson Shatter Forge Hi everyone! Welcome to our first anniversary issue. I'd like to update you all on how last month's depletion deck did. I got 9th place out of roughly 50 people. One more win and I had a chance at first by getting in the top 8. This month I'd like to introduce a different deck idea. I call it my Shatter Forge deck. It's a very offensive, but strategic deck idea. It uses Thran Forge, a Weatherlight artifact that for 2 generic mana you can turn a non-artifact creature into an artifact creature and give it +1/+0. First you have to get the Thran Forge into play. With 4 Thran Forges and 1 Enlightened Tutor in the deck, there is a great chance of getting one. This deck uses red and white's artifact destruction to kill creatures after you Forge them. Basically, the deck is a Wrath of God on opponent's creatures. Then, after you have eliminated their creatures while keeping a strong defense, you hit them hard by using the Thran Forge on your own creatures to give them +1/+0! This works really well, because even if you are playing a creatureless deck, the Thran Forge still works great. Ashes to Ashes, Divine Offering, and Disenchant work well in the deck, where as red's Shatterstorm and Builder's Bane will eliminate a lot of creatures at once. I threw in a Chandler also for reusable creature kill. A good balance of big and small creatures will ensure speed, defense, and damage. Balduvian Horde is good because it combines the three. Goblin Vandal is also good for speed and artifact kill. Wall of Stone will block some of the biggest offenders, and Longbow Archers, Melesse Spirit, and Abbey Gargoyles are hard to kill flyer protection. Now... THE DECK:
This deck works pretty well against creature decks, but stands up to non-creature decks as well. Happy anniversary Beyond Dominia fans and have a great July! Alex Wilson o***w@i***e.net
