Ankh You! takes the basic concept behind Armageddon decks, and gives it
a twist. The standard 'geddon deck uses a Disk, or a Wrath of God to
wipe the board of creatures, then casts a fairly large creature, either
a Erhnam or a Deadly Insect, to finish off the opponent. The concept is
the same here, but somewhat different. The main difference is that
there are no Armageddons in this deck. Insted, it uses a more
roundabout approach to arrive at the same situation, and then keep it
there.
The main focus of this deck is to get an Ankh out with a Storm Cauldron
to send your opponents lands to his or her hand whenever he/she uses
them. The Ankhs then make your opponent think twice about putting down
land, as they will be returned to his/her whenever they are used.
You however, get around this with one of the more widely discussed
Mirage cards, Cadaverous Bloom. With the lands in your hand, it
provides an instant mana rush to cast whatever it is you need. The
Howling Mines then supply a strong source of cards for you to feed to
your Bloom to churn out Djinns or a massive Drain Life.
There are three hitters in the deck : Nether Shadows, Erhnam Djinns, and
Drain Life. The Shadows can be brought out as early as you feel like,
for either a quick assault, or for a renewable defence. The Djinns are
the power hitters, and should be brought out after your opponent's
creatures are gone. The Drain Life is for when you have nothing better
to do. Have a Bloom in play, a Drain Life in hand, and what are your going to
discard? Smash your opponent with a large Drain Life. A creature
getting on your nerves? Slurp its life away.
What happens if your opponent manages to use up your creatures and Drain
Lifes, and is still alive? Well, that's where Forbidden Crypt comes
into play. All of the cards you used before, use again. And if your
Crypt is digging at the bottom of your Graveyard, Disenchant it. Above all else with this deck, experiment with it. Will Lake of the Dead work with it? Infernal Contract? Find out for yourself, and change this deck to suit your playing sytle better. If you noticed, I didn't include a sideboard for this deck, and I won't for any future decks, either. You know your playing area, I don't. Create a sideboard that fits this deck and your playing circle.
