Necrosonic
(or The Noisy Death)

I finally understand Necro! I got my first Exodus pack a few weeks ago. In this pack I received a Sonic Burst and a Necrologia. Naturally, I had the common misconception about Sonic Burst (that you can discard as many cards as you want for as many 4 points of damage as you want). This idea was quickly put to rest when I played a game with it and my opponent told me that I couldn’t possibly be able to do that.

The Necrologia, on the other hand, I understood completely, and thought it was an awesome card. After using all your cards, you can pay life to get a full hand. Simple and efficient. I concluded that this would work best with decks where you use up cards quickly. To make my deck, I started out with three Necrologias. Sonic Burst was fast, and involved discarding for damage, so I included 4 of those, and 4 Kindles, which are useful in the graveyard. A variety of graveyard and direct damage oriented creatures, 3 Haunting Misery as a finisher, 2 Death’s Duet to get creatures for direct damage back if needed. Fast mana such as Dark Ritual, Culling of the Weak and Lotus Petals were also included.

That would have been the version submitted, if not for my playtesting. Normally the decks I submit are not playtested, and consequently need to be honed by the user. However, I did playtest the “Noisy Death” and I discovered that it was not concentrated enough, and not nearly fast enough. To fix this, I added another Necrologia and decreased the Haunting Miseries to two. I revised the creature base to consist of much faster creatures. I put in 4 Mogg Fanatics, and 4 Acidic Slivers for direct damage. 4 of the fast shadow creature Dauthi Horror, and 2 Dauthi Warlord for offensive power. To supplement these, I included 2 Mogg Raiders and 2 Bottle Gnomes for defense and life gaining capability. The finished version looks like this:

Creatures (total=18)
4 Mogg Fanatic
4 Acidic Sliver
4 Dauthi Horror
2 Bottle Gnomes
2 Dauthi Warlord
2 Mogg Raider

Non-Creature Spells (total=16)
4 Sonic Blast
4 Kindle
4 Necrologia
2 Haunting Misery
2 Death’s Duet

Non-Land Mana (total=6)
2 Dark Ritual
2 Culling of the Weak
2 Lotus Petal

Land (total=20)
9 Mountains
7 Swamps
2 Cinder Marsh
2 Wasteland

Note: Deck was Playtested.

Grantfly thinks his decks are great. However, he has been suffering lately from an inflammation of the ego, and needs readers' help to tell him whether his decks are good, bad, or merely square man.
